This version with basil rathbone and Nigel Bruce doesn't fall into the 'classic' category by many. However,I think its one of the all time great movies.as a boy, I watched it on TV and it left a lasting impact on me. OK,its not Dracula,Frankenstein,or Rebecca. The director,Sidney lanfield even directed the Addams family TV series! Also,the plot takes a few liberties from the book. From the opening scenes onward I still get a chill from the cinemetography. This is one movie that I really am in London  or the moors. When I started buying DVDs this was one of the first I had to own....check out a few scenes
